Composition:         HAZARDOUS COMPONENTS  XYLENE – Up to 10% by volume.

                                TRIMETHYLBENZENE - Up to 50%

 


3. HAZARD IDENTIFICATION

 


Main Hazards:         Flammable. Harmful by inhalation and in contact with the skin. Irritating to the skin.

 


4. FIRST AID MEASURES

 


Skin contact:         Drench the skin with plenty of water. Remove contaminated clothing and wash before re-use. If large area of the skin is damaged or if irritation persists seek medical attention.

Eye contact:          Irrigate thoroughly with water for at least 10 minutes.

Ingestion:          Wash out mouth with water. Do not induce vomiting. If the patient is conscious, give water to drink.

Inhalation:         Remove the casualty out of the danger area after first ensuring your own safety. Loosen the patients clothing. If the casualty is unconscious, place in the recovery position and monitor breathing. Apply artificial respiration only if patient is not breathing. Seek medical attention when anyone has symptoms apparently due to swallowing or inhalation.

 Suitable extinguisher:        Dry powder, foam or carbon dioxide.

Personal protection:      Wear appropriate PPE.

Leaks & spills:       Absorb into dry earth or sand. Transfer to a closable salvage container for disposal by an appropriate method or retain for recovery.

Health effects skin:        Harmful if absorbed through the skin. The liquid irritates the skin and can cause dermatitis.

                             Eyes:          The vapour and liquid is irritating to the eyes.

Inhalation:           Harmful if inhaled. High concentrations are destructive to tissues of the mucous membranes and upper respiratory tract. Symptoms of exposure may include burning sensation, coughing, wheezing, laryngitis, shortness of breath, headache, nausea and vomiting.

Ingestion:            Harmful if swallowed. Ingestion may cause nausea, vomiting and symptoms of damage to the central nervous system. Ingestion of large amounts could cause kidney damage.
